What we are up to!

So as things with babies often do, we have had dramatic changes this week!

-On Monday night Avery went down at 8 and woke up at 5:45, only waking once (at 12:45).
-On Tuesday night she went down at 7:15 and woke up at 7:00.  She fussed at 9:45 and woke to eat once at 2:45.

This is AMAZING!!!!!  And I am starting to get used to her sleeping for longer stretches, the first night was great, but terrifying, I kept thinking she must not be alive, because she isn't waking up or crying.

THANK YOU H, Faith, and Calmly Chaotic for the let them go to sleep earlier advice!!!!!

Avery still loves bathtime, so much that she happily blows bubbles while in there!!!
(Look at that cute little cowlick sp?)

She loves it when Daddy snuggles her and keeps her warm after the bath!

She is now wearing some 3-6 month clothes, she is just too dang long for anything footed that is 0-3 and even some 0-3 pants.  Here she is in her 3-6 month jeggings!!!!

And here is a close up of this adorable hat, thanks Sarah!!!!  Unfortunately, she hates hats (as you can see, she isn't great at hiding her true feelings)!

Other than that, here are some things that are going on . . . .
-she has been having solid poops, easier to clean up, yes; but painful for her.  We are adding .25 teaspoons to four of her feedings a day to help this out.
-she is still spitting up a decent amount, but since she is gaining weight like a champ the doctor is not worried.
-Ray and I don't know what to do with our extra time in the evenings, it is nice to have some me time again.
-date night on Friday, my parents are taking her for the night, yay!  You better believe I will be drinking wine.
-she is just getting more and more personality, I love it.

Thought Vomit Thursday is something I am a late bloomer on, I have been enjoying other people's posts, but haven't yet participated.

So here goes
-I love the holidays and I am obsessed with Christmas music, but does it seem as though it started playing really early this year?  My favorite station was playing it November 1, WTF?
-I am taking the Friday after Thanksgiving off.  Most people have this day off, but since my first job was in retail and Ray has to work the day after (he is in banking) I have always just worked it.  I decided to take it off this year, because we are going to cut down a real tree and this will be Avery's first Christmas tradition!
-I don't think I am going to put up decorations this year, I love them, but it takes awhile and the times that I could do it are the times I normally reserve for giving Avery all of our attention.  I know it's a cop out, but I feel a little lazy this year and she won't know the difference.
-So I bought the fancy Angel.Care monitor that alerts you when the baby isn't breathing . . . it is not worth it.  We haven't even turned the sensor on, we are just using the sound monitoring part.  What a waste.
-I miss taking Avery for walks.
-Should I take her to get pictures taken with Santa?
-I LOVE the Amazon list feature, it is so handy for creating your wish list for Christmas!!!!
-One thing I will be doing this season is my tradition of drinking wine, watching my favorite Christmas movies (Love Actually, Home Alone, and Bad Santa), and wrapping presents!

As you can tell Avery and Christmas are pretty much monopolizing my brain!

Happy Thanksgiving!

There are always many things to be thankful for, but this year I feel SOOOOO blessed.

These are the things that I am thankful for . . . .
my health (after going through my pregnancy, I am even more grateful for this)
my husband, he is amazing and I am soo lucky to have found him
my baby girl, she is healthy and sweet and adorable
my family, as I get older I appreciate this more and more
my job, I am so grateful to have a job I love
our house, it isn't big or fancy, but it is ours and I am proud to be a homeowner
our pets, they drive me crazy sometimes, but they are the best
our babysitters, we truly lucked out to have such caring people taking care of Avery
Ray's company, they have been so flexible and taken care of him so well

2 Months

Avery is doing so great, here are some new things she is doing . .
she is "talking" lots of coos and squeals, it is sooo cute
she is doing better with entertaining herself now
she loves car rides
she loves to watch sports on tv (the tv interests her, but she is enthralled when sports are on)
she loves facing forward in her carrier

Avery's firsts . . . .
skyping with mimi and Eddie
sleeping through the night

Lessons learned
she needs to have a schedule, she gets a little cranky when we are off schedule

She is 11 adn one half pounds (70%) 22 and three quarters inches long (70%) and her head is 75%.  So she is my big chunky baby!!!!!!
She is still eating 4-5 ounces every four hours.  She is still spitting up a lot.  I am going to ask the doctor about that, since it is worrying me a little bit.

She still sleeps about the same . . .
goes down at 10, wakes up at 2 to eat and wakes up at 6 to eat.  Sometimes she gets up and fusses in between, but that is happening less and less.  She loves the mobile.

She did sleep through the night once.  She went down at 10 and slept until 4.  It was amazing, I actually woke up worried about her.  But she was fine.  How funny that she did it on the night of her 2 month birthday!

She has done great with her babysitters.  She has a great time with Cory, who is the son of my friend who watches her on Tuesday and Thursday.  He is one year older than her and he is so cute with her.  He holds her hand and reads her books!!

She still gets pretty fussy in the evenings, when does that start to die down?  And is there anything we can do to help it?

It's hard to say goodbye

Wow, today was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  It didn't help that she has just started smiling and was the most smiley baby all morning long.

I cried . . . .a lot.

Wouldn't you if you had to say goodbye to this face?

6 Weeks

Avery is doing so great, here are some new things she is doing . .
she is really enjoying her play mat, she is swatting at things now
she is starting to smile on purpose, it makes my day, she has the most adorable dimples
she loves to be carried facing forward so she can take everything in
she loves to be talked to, when you are talking to her it looks like she is listening, because she makes eye contact
she loves the TV, the colors and everything that changes just amaze her
Avery's firsts . . . .
social smile

Lessons learned
she can put herself to sleep better than I can.  When we put her down at night she will put herself to sleep within about 20 minutes (note- she is not crying during this time, sometimes she fusses and we put her paci back in, but mostly she puts herself to sleep and just coos).
My Mommy intuition is right, she is 10 pounds 3 ounces and 22 inches long.  She is 50% for both and her head is 35%.

She is wearing size one diapers and 0-3 months outfits.
She is eating 5-6 times a day and 4 ounces during the day and 5 ounces at her two night time feedings.

She spits up about 30 minutes to one hour after eating, the doctor said that isn't abnormal, but it does mean she is wearing a bib all day long!
She is now on a routine.  We keep her up from about 7 on.  She has a bath at 9:30, a massage, diaper change, and then a bottle.  I put her down around 10:15.  She will fuss a little and I go in a put her paci back in once or twice.  She is usually out by 10:45.  She wakes up around 12:30 and I comfort her and put her paci back in.  She sleeps until her 2:00 feeding.  She is back asleep by 2:45 and wakes up at 5.  Ray rocks her until 6 when it is time to eat and then she is asleep by6:45.  She will sleep until 8 or 9.

So not bad, but it will be nice when she only wakes up to eat.
We bought her more new books this week and Goodnight Moon is her favorite.
I go back to work on Monday :(.
How do you balance getting things done and spending time with baby once you go back to work?
